FAQ

What are Basic Event, Pro Event, Event Series, Festival, and Conference?*

Basic Event refers to a simple, single event that you host with a single event page for all your event information. Integrated ticketing with multiple ticket types and basic registration questionnaire.

Pro Event refers to a single event for which you would like to build a multi-page event microsite with detailed information on program/agenda, artist or speaker bios, and more. With integrated ticketing, reserved seating, and other pro features.

Event Series is a collection of related events such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced level workshops or the same show at multiple locations and dates. Attendees can conveniently browse and buy tickets to one or more events of the series at the same time. A multi-page event microsite lets you publish agenda, artists bios, faq, and additional details as desired.

Festival is a variation of Event Series that allows a greater number of individual events as well as offers attendees the ability to browse and buy individual event tickets or festival combo tickets. Combo tickets can be setup to be a predetermined collection of tickets from the festival or you can let users choose a set number, for example a 3-event pass where they choose any 3 events to attend. Schedule and individual event info is laid out beautifully.

Conference is a full fledged event site with tracks, agenda, speaker bios, sponsor spotlight, additional customizable pages, and advanced registration questionnaires. Plus you can get a custom mobile app for attendee engagement at the conference.

Does Tikkl charge fees from attendees?

Tikkl does not charge fees from attendees.

We charge only you the organizers, for using our software and services. You may choose to

  • absorb fees and list an all-inclusive ticket price OR
  • pass fees, listing a ticket price and a separate custom fee (which may be equal to, higher, or lower than what Tikkl charges you).

How are fees calculated?

Tikkl and the payment gateway calculate fees on the final amount paid by the ticket buyer and not on the list price of a ticket. The final amount includes list price minus discounts plus fees, tax collected, and donations, if any.

What does Tikkl recommend — absorb or pass fees?

We recommend keeping it simple for ticket-buyers - absorb fees and list an all-inclusive price.

We believe organizers care most about keeping attendees happy. That’s why we recommend absorbing your ticketing and payment gateway fees—just as you do for venue or audiovisual costs—and listing an all-inclusive, what-you-see-is-what-you-pay (WYSWYP) ticket price. Attendees prefer it, and as a bonus, we’ve found it helps boost ticket sales.

Can I use my own payment gateway?

No, you will use Tikkl's payment gateway account with Razorpay so that you can get started within minutes without the hassle of setting up with Razorpay. This also allows for ticket revenues and fees to be collected and disbursed efficiently.

Are payment gateway fees separate?

Payment gateway fees for credit card processing will apply separately. 2% + GST per transaction.

Can I publish my event simultaneously on other event platforms too?

While you may list your event on other platforms also, we require that you make Tikkl your primary ticketing platform, promote your Tikkl event pages on your website and social media, and sell tickets / process registrations and manage inventory on Tikkl only.

You shall use our logo and other images available in our Brand Hub to promote your events in all mediums used for promotions and advertisement. You shall include on all communication for your events that tickets are available on the Tikkl Platform and the event registration and ticketing partner for the events is Tikkl. Tikkl widgets are also available in your admin area.

When will organizers receive ticket sales payout?

Your ticket sales revenue, minus Tikkl and Razorpay fees, will be processed in 1-7 business days after event closes. For long running event series, payouts will be processed periodically.

If you use Tikkl to sell tickets outside India in foreign currencies, you will receive payouts in 1-30 business days after event closes.

Will GST be charged on tickets?

Tikkl does not charge GST on ticket sales.

Tikkl sells tickets on your behalf and not as itself. Tikkl acts as your limited payment agent for the purpose of facilitating the receipt of payments made by your ticket buyers through our payment gateway partner, and the disbursement of those payments to you.

You, the event organizer, are solely responsible for determining if you need to pay GST or any other taxes. Tikkl allows you to itemize and collect GST on ticket sales from ticket-buyers, if you so wish to.

Will GST be charged on Tikkl fees?

Tikkl will collect GST from you, the event organizer, on its fees.

Can we process cancellations or exchanges?

Yes, you can.

While events have time bound sales cycles and event organizers cannot handle cancellations and exchanges, we understand that sometimes, there are special circumstances. If you choose to process cancellations and exchanges, we can help you do so, however, a charge will apply, to pay for the time it takes a worker to do the manual processing. It helps to bunch together your requests for batch processing.

Also, note that Tikkl ticketing and livestreaming fees and payment gateway's credit card processing fees, that were charged for processing the original transaction, will still apply.

Can we give free or complimentary tickets or sell tickets offline or at 3rd party sites, for our paid in-person events?

Yes, you can. And we will not charge Tikkl fees on those tickets. However, if your paid in-person event has reserved seating, you can only give free or sell offline, a maximum of 20% of seats, without incurring Tikkl fees.

Can we give free or complimentary tickets for our paid virtual/hybrid events?

Yes, you can. Up to a maximum of 10 or < 10% of total tickets sold, whichever is lower. Note that whenever you issue free tickets, we zero out fees if any for the ticket buyer, however, we will charge you Tikkl fees on free tickets in excess of this allowed limit.

Can we sell tickets offline or at 3rd party sites for our paid virtual/hybrid events?

No, you cannot. Tikkl has robust security measures in place for virtual/hybrid events and does not support 3rd party ticket sales.

What if my virtual event exceeds 4 hours?

An excess data usage fee will apply if bandwidth usage exceeds 4 hours of streaming per ticket.

Can I list virtual events with global USD pricing for audiences outside India?

Yes, India based event organizers can use our platform to list their virtual events at global USD prices for USA and Worldwide audiences. UK+MEA and APAC are other popular regions. Please refer to our USA Pricing page for fees and terms. An International Campaign Fee of additional 5% per ticket will apply. Payouts from USA to India will be processed in 1-30 business days after event closes at our international exchange rate for that week.

Can we run donation drives or ask for donations on event or payment campaigns?

We do not support collecting donations for India customers at this time, although the features are available for USA based customers.
