Abhijãta, the central theme for the 42nd edition of Natya Kala Conference is dedicated to exploring the myriad layers and multiple dimensions of Natya and its timeless quality.

Abhijãta will serve as a platform for scholars, artists, practitioners, and enthusiasts to delve deep into the academic, artistic, and creative realms of Natya, celebrating its holistic essence as a "wholesome treat" for the soul.

The 42nd edition of the Natya Kala Conference by the Krishna Gana Sabha is conceived and curated by Bharatanrityam and Kathak exponents, Nirupama and Rajendra.

Natya Kala Conference: Genesis and Journey

The Natya Kala Conference, NKC for short, is a dance conference that was conceived by the Krishna Gana Sabha way back in 1981 with an intent to allow dancers of a certain class and caliber (those who were conferred the title of Nrithya Choodamani), to share their knowledge, insights and understanding of dance and its world at large with a group of like-minded people under the umbrella of a five-day conference.

NKC unfolds every year and has attained a landmark status of sorts, bringing into its fold, dancers and dance enthusiasts, scholars, rasikas, writers, commentators, and scholars to converge and deliberate upon dance and the many aspects that pertain to it and are of crucial concern to it.

For the Conference, a convenor who is chosen, uses their intelligence and imagination to identify and present a host of artistes and scholars who share their know-how of a particular idea or thought, allowing the possibility of deliberate discussion and debate.

NIRUPAMA & RAJENDRA are India's foremost dance exponents who have been incessantly working in the field of dance for over 34 years as dancers, choreographers, teachers, producers and organizers.

They are the recipients of several prestigious awards such as “Sangeet Natak Akademi Pursakaar” from Central Sangeet Natak Akademi given by the honourable President of India, “Nrithya Choodamani” from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, "Karnataka Kalashree" from the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Government of Karnataka and several other awards and recognition from reputed Indian and foreign organisations.

A noteworthy contribution by Smt Nirupama is the newly crafted 108 dance movements of aesthetics and functional value called Deshi Marga Adavus. The couple have also contributed by video documentation of the 7th century Sanskrit Satire "Bhagavadajjukam", which is open for usage by posterity. Through Abhinava, the duo have revived Madanotsava - a community festival to welcome the spring season which is a celebration of art, culture and literature.

NKC Season Pass and NKC Pass ticket registration grants entry for the Natya Kala Conference 2024 at the venue on all days from December 26 to December 29.
The registration is one-time and it means that you have to register even if you want to attend only one session of the conference.
Please show the payment confirmation mail (on your phone or as a printout) to collect folder with the souvenir and the badge (only for Season Pass holders and NKC Pass holders). Please make sure to wear the badge at all times when in the venue.
To collect your badge and souvenir, please keep a soft copy of the documents which is mandatory.

If you are registering for multiple participants, please note that the badge and souvenirs for all the participants that you register for will be handed over either to you on the day of pick-up or to the person that you authorize to do so.
The NKC Pass does not cover morning workshops starting at 8am, you will have to purchase them separately. The workshop tickets will be made available to buying at a date closer to the event.
If you hold the NKC Season Pass, your tickets covers workshop entry as well. We have reserved a seat for you at the designated area toward the stage.
Seating is on first-come-first-served basis for NKC Pass, in the respective designated areas.
No refund on tickets will be made under any circumstances except pursuant to conditions under Event Cancellation or Postponement.
The organizers are not liable for any delays or cancellation which results from, Force Majeure or any state of emergency or any other government act, law statute, ordinance, whatsoever which renders impractical for the organizers.
