8th Future Worlds Symposium

The Future Worlds Symposium is a yearly tech conference organized by Sacramento's professional ACM chapter with assistance from local ACM student chapters. Each year the symposium takes on a new theme, guiding the topics and ideas covered by speakers throughout the conference.

The theme for this year's symposium is "Data & AI for a Safer World".

The event will be held in hybrid mode, both in-person and virtually, with keynotes, talks, and poster sessions on Day One at Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, California State University, Sacramento and in Virtual Format via Zoom. Sessions on Day Two are via Zoom only.

We cannot wait to share the talks and discussions we have planned for the event! We hope to see you there!

Data & AI for a Safer World

As stated above, the theme for this year's symposium is "Data & AI for a Safer World".

Co-Located with the Great ShakeOut 2025,this will occur on International ShakeOut Day, Thursday, October 16, 2025, when millions will practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" at 10:16 a.m. local time

We have wonderful talks planned from various great speakers, starting with an introduction and welcome by our Chair, Dr Harsh Verma.

We will have a very interesting talk on Data and AI for a Safer World by Dr Anne Wein, from USGS and specially understand what is meant by the Haywired Scenarios!

At 10:16am, we will follow the ShakeOut Drills and look at variou safety needs where Data and AI apply to create a safer world!

Next we will look at Cyber-Physical Resilience and Bridging Emergency Operations, Security Operations, Detection Principles with Real-Time Public Safety Systems. How do we perform Security, Trust, and Real-Time Sensing at Scale?

We will then split up into breakout discussions on AI and Data in Safety, Transportation and Education to have thought provoking discussions regarding various fields and how they might interact with AI and Poster Session Presentations by students.
