The Universal Balance by SIFAS Productions, Singapore

As part of The Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) Productions' continued commitment to promoting the arts and fostering cross-cultural harmony, “The Universal Balance”, presented by SIFAS Productions Singapore, marks two momentous milestones - Singapore’s 60th year of independence, and the 60th anniversary of Singapore-India diplomatic relations. This production proudly showcases homegrown talents, bringing Singapore’s cultural spirit to prestigious international stages.

The Universal Balance is an artistic tribute to the eternal dualities that shape our world - creation and dissolution, devotion and detachment, sound and silence - brought to life through the symbolic union of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva in the divine form of Hari-Hara.

The Carnatic music segment of the show, titled “Narayanam”, is curated by senior Carnatic vocal tutor and Kalakshetra alumna, Guru Jyothishmathi Sheejith. This segment highlights compositions on Lord Vishnu in his various divine forms, through soulful renditions grounded in classical tradition. The performance features SIFAS alumni musicians: Sai Vigneshwar on vocals, Kavya Sivakumar on veena, Sreeranjani Muthu Subramanian on violin, Sabapathy Tirupathi Ramana on flute, and Sai Akileshwar on mridangam.

Following this, the Bharatanatyam segment titled Thillai - The Golden Abode of Shiva brings to life the rich philosophical and mystical dimensions of Lord Shiva. Conceptualised by Guru Geethanadhan PK, senior Bharatanatyam tutor at SIFAS and Kalakshetra alumnus, the production centers on Nataraja, the cosmic dancer, and explores the sacred interplay of sound, space, and silence through expressive storytelling. This powerful narrative is brought to the stage by SIFAS alumni dancers Gopikka N L, Kritika Suresh, Nagalakshmi, Tejashree Parthasarathy, and Vismaya Dinesh.

Through the language of music and dance, "The Universal Balance" reflects the rich tapestry of Singapore’s multicultural identity while paying homage to the timeless treasure of Indian classical arts. We invite audiences to join us in honoring a shared cultural legacy.
