
Vidhya Subramanian is an eminent Bharatanatyam artist, acclaimed for her sensitive choreography and emotionally charged performances.
Awarded the prestigious Nritya Choodamani by Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, her artistry has earned appreciation the world over. An articulate and moving performer, she employs her outstanding interpretive and dramatic skills to make the emotions palpably present on stage.
A sought after artist to perform and teach, her dance, witnessed in prestigious centers from the World Music Institute, New York, to Theatre de Soleil, Paris, to the sabhas of Chennai, is often described as an offering of mind, body and soul. The Dance View Times, New York describes her work thus: “Her movements were suffused with a sensuous longing, both earthly and eternal; I could have watched her for hours.”

With an MA in Theatre Arts, she has enriched her artistic experience with forays into theatre and film as well. With 30 years of teaching experience, her focus is on helping students discover the links between dance and life. Vidhya founded Kala Vedika in the Bay Area, California, and is now founder, curator for Sparsha in Chennai established to build bridges between inter-disciplinary arts. Vidhya currently serves on the board of Vidyodaya Schools.
